Eric
The Bridge
As we near the dawn of Neal’s clan adding one to their ranks, Eric wanted to show off his little baby over the last year or so.
His baby is a utility bridge, strange but true, though to an Architect a project like this can have it’s own little life (and often lasts longer then 9 months). Full of ups and downs and the anticipation as you see the shape you had drawn take form. Even more enjoyable was the awards this bridge won a merit award at the 2008 AIA Central States Design Excellence Awards.
Take a drive downtown and see for yourself (it is right next to the Sprint Center).

architects side note (yes we photograph lots of you):
A bit of the concept… a series of sine waves signifying the bridges function are formed out of perforations and bumps in black zinc. During the day it lies dormant, with little impact on the surroundings, but at night internal lighting pulses as a beacon to the electric current inside.

This is incredible. You should be so very proud, Eric. The photography is excellent, but the bridge…oh my, the bridge is just utterly amazing.
